Kevin M. Carrizosa is a member of the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, located in Alpine, CA — one of the nation’s most respected gaming tribes for its entrepreneurial success and political advocacy of economic sovereignty, and for the example it has set for tribal government businesses throughout the nation. He lives on the Viejas Reservation with his wife of twelve years, Rebecca, and their two daughters, Mackenna and Keeleyana. Elected in 2015, Councilman Carrizosa is proud to be serving his first term in office.

After graduating high school early, Councilman Carrizosa attended Grossmont College, and then started his own mobile detailing business at the age of 20. After several successful years with his own business, he realized it was time to focus on his health. Carrizosa had been a “big guy” all of his life; however, when he saw the scale had hit 500 pounds in 2010, he knew it was time to return to health. Through hard work, dedication, exercise and eating right, he dropped 250 pounds over the course of two years. He even became certified as a personal trainer and is dedicated to teaching and helping his tribal community with living a healthy lifestyle.

Councilman Carrizosa has previously served on the finance, housing and contributions committees, and along with sharing his passion for fitness, health and wellness, he will also be focusing his efforts on education, recreation and re-engaging his tribal community.
